Important Information for Part-time Faculty: Duplicating Class Materials
How do I go about getting some materials duplicated for my class?
There are roughly three types of duplicating jobs that we encounter:
1) The "little job" is something like a short handout (e.g., three page) for your class. You may copy those handouts on the 13th floor of the Law School in the copy room by first getting a copy code from the Manager of Law School Operations, Elaine Gist, (312) 915-7121, egist@luc.edu, in room 1473. You are responsible for the copyright check on these materials.
2) The "mid-sized job" (e.g., 70 copies of a 10 page handout) is one that should be copied at the Water Tower Campus copy center at 837 No. State St. Please check with the Manager of Law School Operations, Elaine Gist in room 1473, (312) 915-7121, egist@luc.edu for details, including the appropriate account number. You are responsible for the copyright check on these materials. If, in your judgment, the cost of a mid-sized job should be passed on to the students, it can also be copied and sold through the University bookstore, Barnes & Noble. Sometimes, if there is a small charge for your course's textbook but a large copying charge for supplemental materials, costs of copying could appropriately be shifted to students. Call Ms. Gist if you'd like to discuss a particular copy job.
3) The "big job" is a large handout that should be copied and sold to the students through the University bookstore. They will be responsible for the copyright check, the duplication and the sale of the material to students. (This is a major convenience for us.) If the main source of material for your course is material that you have compiled, it should probably be considered a "big job" and be sent to the university copy center for reproduction and sale through Barnes & Noble. They will need at least a month's lead time to finish a big job. As above, please check with the Manager of Law School Operations, Elaine Gist at (312) 915-7121, egist@luc.edu for details, including the appropriate account number.
Please note and observe the University's copyright policy.
