Important Information for Part-time Faculty: Makeup and Extra Classes

What if I have to miss a class or have an extra class?

When you are forced to miss a class, it's important to schedule a make-up class ASAP. Our accreditors, the ABA, require that each course meet for a minimum number of hours. By conforming to the regular semester calendar of classes, your class will automatically satisfy the requirements. But if you cancel a class, it must be rescheduled.

Often, it's difficult to reschedule because it's hard to find a time that isn't in conflict with other classes your students have. (It is practically impossible to reschedule evening classes.) If all else fails, we have set aside specific days in every semester for make-up and supplemental classes. The dates for make-up and supplemental classes can be found on the law school academic calendar. You still need to reserve a time and a room so call in to reserve a room, first come - first serve. Contact the Manager of Law School Operations, Elaine Gist at (312) 915-7121, egist@luc.edu, to arrange for a time and place for your class to meet.
