Marie Quinlivan Czech
Biography
Marie Quinlivan Czech has been an Assistant State's Attorney in Cook County since 1981. She is a career appellate prosecutor. She is currently the supervisor of federal capital litigation at the State's Attorney's Office. She sits on a panel of Assistant State's Attorneys who advise State's Attorney Alvarez about the strengths and weaknesses of potential death penalty cases.
Marie is a 2003 recipient of the National District Attorney's Association "Home Run Hitters" award, given for "exhibiting tenacity, diligence and fairness" in the "most difficult of cases." Marie has briefed two cases in the United States Supreme Court. She has briefed and argued twelve cases in the United States Court of Appeals, at least thirty cases in the Illinois Supreme Court and hundreds of cases in the Illinois Appellate Court. Marie has also been an adjunct professor of legal writing at the Loyola Law School since 1997. She is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame Law School.
