Bratislav Stankovic

 

Biography

Bratislav Stankovic has a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and a J.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He practices Intellectual Property Law at Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione in Chicago. Dr. Stankovic focuses his practice on patent prosecution and litigation in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and engineering, specifically molecular biology, nanobiology, bioinformatics and biochemistry. He was recently a recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship for Intellectual Property Law.

Dr. Stankovic writes and teaches on patent law, biotechnology law, bioethics, research and medical ethics, and space biology. He has written more than 35 legal and scientific articles and book chapters that have appeared in peer-reviewed journals, is the author of more than 40 technical articles and abstracts, and has provided many invited legal talks, as well as scientific talks on plant signaling and plant space biology. Dr. Stankovic has reviewed manuscripts for professional journals, and has also served as a reviewer of grants for the U.S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation, the Israel Science Foundation, and the United States-Israel Binational Science Foundation.

Prior to his legal career, Dr. Stankovic spent 17 years as a scientist in academic settings, including four years as a Chief Scientist at the Wisconsin Center for Space Automation and Robotics, University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he was the principal or co-principal investigator for several experiments on the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station.
