Lawrence E. Singer

Biography
While in law school, Professor Singer worked as a legislative extern for Senator Edward Kennedy, staffing death penalty and health care legislation, among other things. Prior to joining the faculty, he was an attorney with the Chicago office of McDermott, Will & Emery, where his practice focused on general corporate and transactional matters, medical staff affairs, and patient care issues. He also served as assistant to the general counsel of the American Hospital Association and as legal counsel in the AHA's Office of Legal and Regulatory Affairs. While there, he was the principal author of an amicus curiae brief to the U.S. Supreme Court in the case of Cruzan v. Missouri Department of Health. Professor Singer also serves as the Director of the Beazley Institute for Health Law and Policy's Center for Catholic Healthcare and Sponsorship.
