Hon. Sanjay T. Tailor
Judge Tailor was appointed associate judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County in April 2003. He is assigned to the law division, and has previously sat in the domestic relations and municipal divisions of the court. Judge Tailor began his legal career in 1991 as an associate in the special litigation, bankruptcy and workout group of Chapman and Cutler. In 1995, he joined the law department of the First National Bank of Chicago as a senior attorney. Between 1996 and 2003, he litigated a wide range of civil matters as an assistant state's attorney. Before his appointment, Judge Tailor served as deputy supervisor of the torts and civil rights section of the Cook County State's Attorney's Office.
In addition to teaching at the law school, Judge Tailor serves as faculty for the judicial education division of the Administrative Office of Illinois Courts. He has served on committees of numerous bar associations and spoken and/or moderated discussion on a wide range of legal topics, including civil procedure, financial valuation, supplementary proceedings, mediation, and national security/civil liberties. He has published in both legal and scientific journals, including most recently, Better Civil Practice in Dissolution of Marriage Litigation, 40 Loy. U. Chi. L. J. 911 (2009). He is a fellow of the 2007-2008 class of Leadership Greater Chicago. Judge Tailor is a cum laude graduate of the law school, and serves on the Dean's diversity committee.
