The Big Bailouts
Monday, April 20, 2009
Loyola Law Center
Ceremonial Courtroom
5:00 - 6:30 p.m.
Last fall the Loyola University Business & Corporate Governance Law Center sponsored a public forum entitled The Big Bailout, which addressed the $700 billion bailout of Wall Street then pending in Congress. Since that public forum the government has spent trillions while the economy has rapidly deteriorated. The new administration has announced a new round of bailouts and has continued to make multi-trillion dollar commitments on behalf of the U.S. taxpayer.
On Monday, April 20, the Business & Corporate Governance Law Center will sponsor a follow-up public forum in the Ceremonial Courtroom on the 10th Floor of the Loyola Law Center. The Big Bailouts will discuss the government programs announced to date, their expected costs, and their policy bases. The program will also assess the democratic fairness of the programs and whether the programs are likely to work. A panel consisting of law professors Charles Murdock and Steven Ramirez, and business school professor George Kaufman will present overviews of the bailouts, and field questions at the conclusion of the program. The panelists will also be available at a short reception after the public forum.
