Terence G. Banich

Terence G. Banich is a partner with Shaw Gussis Fishman Glantz Wolfson & Towbin LLC. Mr. Banich is a member of the firm's Litigation and Bankruptcy practices.
Since he began his career at Jenner & Block in 1999, Mr. Banich has represented and counseled a wide variety of clients regarding the prosecution and defense of varied sorts of civil cases, as well litigation avoidance. He also has represented elected public officials, a pharmaceutical manufacturer and some of its executives as well as a major defense contractor in grand jury investigations, federal criminal trials and qui tam litigation brought pursuant to the False Claims Act. Mr. Banich also has extensive experience representing parties-in-interest - such as debtors in possession, secured and unsecured creditors, creditors' committees and chapter 7 trustees - in bankruptcy litigation, including adversary proceedings and contested matters. Mr. Banich also has developed an expertise in construction litigation and counseling, including representing owners, contractors and subcontractors in mechanics lien, surety bond and contract disputes.
Mr. Banich received his Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from the University of San Diego in 1996, and his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Loyola University Chicago in 1999. He is admitted to practice law in Illinois, California and the District of Columbia. He is a member of the American Bar Association, American Bankruptcy Institute, Illinois State Bar Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. During law school, Mr. Banich served as a judicial law clerk in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois for the Honorable Richard E. Neville (Law Division, 1998 to 1999), and to the Honorable Thomas R. Fitzgerald (Criminal Division, 1997 to 1998).
In addition to being an attorney, Mr. Banich is a professional guitarist and bass guitarist. His interests include ancient civilizations, archaeoastronomy, urban archaeology, 1960s Cadillacs and computers and technology.
