About

Most recently, Andrea Garland was an Associate with the law firm of Robbins, Schwartz, Nicholas, Lifton, and Taylor were she concentrated her practice in the areas of special education law and student rights. She counseled school districts concerning student discipline and expulsions, student records, student's rights and other student-related matters.

Previously, Andrea was the Salisbury post-graduate clinical teaching fellow with the Civitas ChildLaw Clinic at Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Her responsibilities included the training of law students to represent children in legal proceedings. Additionally, she represented children in abuse and neglect and delinquency proceedings in juvenile court and custody and visitation proceeding in the domestic relations court. Prior to this position, Andrea was an Assistant Public Guardian with the Office of the Public Guardian of Cook County, Illinois, where she gained extensive litigation experience representing children in abuse and neglect proceedings in the juvenile court.

Andrea, also, served as a faculty member for the NITA program, "Training the Lawyer to Represent the Whole Child" in Hempstead, NY in 2007 and 2008. Further, a graduate of Loyola University Chicago School of Law, she tutored students in Legal Writing and was the Editor-in-Chief for the Children's Legal Rights Journal.

Prior to her legal career, Andrea held clinical positions with group homes and child welfare agencies as a Social Worker. Her practice focused on assessing the clinical and developmental needs of clients and providing individual, group, and family therapy.
