Certificate in Public Interest
Requirements for the JD Certificate in Public Interest
1. Coursework/Grades
In order to be eligible for the certificate, students must complete four elective courses in public interest law, for a total of no less than 10 credit hours. The course options are listed on the application for the public interest certificate.
Additionally, students must enroll in the Public Interest Law Seminar and complete a clinic, practicum, or externship.
Students must earn a 3.0 or better in each of the four public interest courses they take.
2. Co-Curricular Experience
Students must complete 30 hours of public service work. Please note, this work need not be at one organization and it need not be completed prior to enrolling in the Public Interest Law Seminar.
