Education

Fred Barnhart is the Associate Director of the Loyola School of Law Library.  Prior to coming to Loyola School of Law in 2002 he served as a judicial law clerk at the Circuit Court of Cook County, and before that was the Associate Director of the Chicago-Kent College of Law Library.  While working as a law librarian and library administrator at Chicago-Kent College of Law, Fred also pursued his law degree and graduated in 2000.  His education includes an MLS from the School of Library and Information Science at Indiana University, where his studies emphasized human computer interaction and electronic publishing.  Fred received his B.A. from Indiana University where he studied both anthropology and East Asian Studies, with an emphasis on China.  He has had the opportunity to study Chinese culture and language in both the People's Republic of China and the Republic of China, as well as to teach English classes in Taipei.

Spent 1991-1992 in Taipei, Republic of China, teaching English and studying Mandarin Chinese.  

In addition to his position at Loyola, he presently is a member of the Executive Board for the Chicago Association of Law Libraries.  He also teaches the Legal Information Systems course in the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at Dominican University.
