Law
Media Services
Law Media Services
reports to the Director of Law Technology ( Michael Lonero ), who also
oversees the Law School Computing Services (LSCS).
It is important to note that these are separate departments
with separate staff resources. While LSCS staff resources may
provide some administrative and technical assistance to the LMS staff,
the Law Media Services staff responds to all School of Law media
requests.Law Media Services generally provides support for events and classes between the hours of 11am and 7:30pm Monday through Friday. If Law Media Services resources allow, support may be provided for events that occur outside of these hours when requests are made well in advance of the event.

- or a detailed explanation of your question.
Confirmation
LMS
will track and respond to all requests submitted and will follow up
with a confirmation e-mail once they commit to providing the requested
service.REQUESTS
MUST BE MADE WELL IN ADVANCE OF THE EVENT
Law Media Services staff and equipment resources are limited.
In order to meet requests for services, all requests should
be made as far in advance as possible. However, a minimum of 72 business
hours advance notice is required to be able to respond to requests.
When a room request is submitted for an event, a request to LawMediaServices@luc.edu for
necessary media services should also be submitted. If you wait to make requests to
Law Media Services you run the risk of those servicse not being able to
be provided.WATER TOWER CAMPUS
CLASSROOMS
Currently the School of Law
share classrooms with other university departments and the AV equipment in those classrooms is primarily supported by the University
Media Services group. School of Law Media Services can only provide
limited support in those rooms. This will change over time as the
School of Law renovations are completed and the School of Law controls
its' own classrooms. Our new School of Law classrooms will be supported
primarily by Law Media Services.WTC classrooms are designed to be self-serve AV rooms. No special arrangements are required to use the equipment in the classrooms. Documentation that provides step-by-step instructions for using the equipment in each classroom should be in each of the rooms. That documentation will include a phone number that can be called if the equipment is not working properly. A University Media Services person will respond as soon as possible if a report is made to that number.
If you need AV equipment that is not normally in the classroom, please e-mail LawMediaServices@luc.edu. As much advanced notice as possible is required to ensure the rooms can be prepared for an event. Advanced notice is mandatory for all requests for events that may require a Law Media Services Services staff person to be on site during the event.
NON-CLASSROOM SPACES
Conferences,
symposia and other events are often scheduled in non-classroom spaces.
Most non-classroom spaces on WTC, such as Kasbeer Hall, Rubloff
Reception Room, Rubloff Auditorium as well as other similar spaces, do not have installed AV equipment. As much advance notice as possible, but no less than 72 business hours, is required to ensure that the rooms can be prepared for an event and that appropriate staffing is available.TRAINING
AV
in the classrooms is designed to be self-serve and detailed
instructions are in hte room explaining exactly how to use the
equipment. However, it can be helpful to have someone go throught
the steps with you if you have never used the classrooms before or if
you have not used them in some time and want a refresher. The LMS
staff members are happy to provide individual or small group training
sessions on the use of classroom equipment. A training sessions
takes as little as 15 to 30 minutes. If you would like to
schedule an individual session, e-mail LawMediaServices@luc.edu and indicate dates and times that you could meet with a LMS staff member.REMINDERS
- Backup Plan - For regular day-to-day use of the classrooms, have a backup plan. AV equipment can break, so it is recommended that you are always prepared with a backup plan to continue your class in case the equipment is not working during your class. While the University Media Services staff will do their best to respond to reports of problems as quickly as possible, they will not always be able to fix problems that occur during a class before that class is over.
- Login - Before going to login on a computer in a classroom, make sure you have logged out of the computer in your office. When logging in on a computer in the classroom you may need to set the Context on hte computer in addition to intering your ID and password. To set the Context click on the Advanced button at the Novell Login window, then click the Context button to the right of the Context field, then double-click on LAW, then click once on General and click Ok.
- Laptops - If you want to connect your laptop to the projector in a classroom, you will need to know the code for you specific laptop that tells it to export the video signal out the connector to the projector. On many, but not all laptops this code is issued by holding down the Function key and pressing the F8 key. You would do this after connecting the cable for the projector to your laptop and turning on the projector on. If this code does not work for your laptop you will need to check with the manufacturer of your laptop to find out what the code is for your specific laptop.
