Ramblin' Around

Ramblin’ Around Student Guide Arrives at Residence Halls!

RA2012

Fall is here and students are on campus, ready to hit the books. But they won’t just be staying inside the buildings of Loyola’s campuses.  Whether they are in need of a coffee shop, a bank near campus, or a place to shop, the newest edition of Ramblin’ Around: Student Guide to Loyola’s Neighborhoods has them covered.

Through collaboration between students, local community organizations and businesses, the guide offers listings of dining, shopping, services and points of interest in the neighborhoods surrounding Lake Shore and Water Tower Campuses.

The guide is distributed to all incoming first year and transfer students, and is also available at the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce, the Rogers Park Business Alliance, and at select offices around campus.

This year, new features have been added.  Ramblin’ Around now offers a pull-out map that highlights the areas immediately around the Water Tower and Lake Shore campuses.  Transportation information is included such as CTA bus and train routes, and bike-friendly streets.   Bike rack locations and directions to the Lakefront Trail round out the new features.  “Student’s Choice” within the guide highlight hot spots favored among the Ramblin’ Around staff.  Other budget-conscious bonuses include a listing of free museum days, popular free attractions around Chicago, and close to campus.

Ramblin’ Around exists to get students experiencing the dynamic neighborhoods just beyond Loyola’s borders.  From the diverse cultures represented in Rogers Park and Edgewater, to the dense, upscale business district of the Gold Coast, each campus offers its own unique experience.  We in Community Relations encourage everyone to get out and explore!
