Bequest will benefit medical school scholarships

Bobbi and Stephen Slogoff, MD, made a $1.5 million bequest to the Stritch School of Medicine.

During his more than 40 years in medicine, Stephen Slogoff, MD, dean emeritus, Stritch School of Medicine, has witnessed tremendous changes in the field, including the skyrocketing cost of medical education.

“It’s reached the point where medical school is unbelievably expensive,” he says. To help make a Loyola medical education more accessible to a range of talented students, Slogoff and his wife, Bobbi, made a $1.5 million bequest for Stritch scholarships.

Slogoff, who was dean from 2000-06, remains committed to Stritch’s mission. “Being a faith-based medical school allows faculty members to teach students a set of values that are consistent with Jesuit ideals,” he says. “Those values also are acted upon in the hospital and outpatient centers through all caregivers.  This makes Loyola an important and unique asset to medicine.”

“Values make Loyola an important and unique asset to medicine.”
