Debating Dr. Atomic
Loyola University Chicago is hosting a one-day symposium in January on the history of the Nuclear Age and the internal conflicts of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb. The symposium is open to the public and will feature Nobel laureates, scientists, experts, and faculty discussing atomic weapons and the tough questions that surround them. The symposium is being held in conjunction with the Lyric Opera of Chicago production of Doctor Atomic (Dec. 14-Jan. 19), an opera that explores the human tensions behind the creation and testing of the first atomic bomb.
