Loyola linksters place third in league: Led by the play of freshman Kaitlin Kearney, the women’s golf team earned a third-place showing at the Horizon League Golf Championships. At the same championship tournament,men’s golfer Frank Linquist fired a 211 (67-73-71) to finish one stroke off the pace as Loyola tied for third place.

Track & field notes: Junior Marcia Faustin represented Loyola at the 2006 NCAA Leadership Conference this spring in Florida. Faustin, a three-time Horizon League high-jump champion and school record holder in the outdoor 200-meter dash, was one of 352 student-athletes selected from Division I, II and III institutions. Sophomore Rachel Hansen was selected to the ESPN The Magazine Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field Second Team Academic All-District V.

Freshman shines at Global Games: Incoming freshman forward Andy Polka snagged a pair of rebounds in 13 minutes of action to help the United States to a come-from-behind, 81-77 victory over Serbia in the third-place game at the Global Games. Polka is part of a highly touted class joining the Rambler squad. In five appearances at the Global Games, he averaged 4.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.
