President's Message

Dear Loyola graduates and friends,

As this issue of Loyola magazine is produced, we’re sending off the Loyola University Chicago Class of 2007 with pride and best wishes. Celebrating the achievements of our graduates-to-be, like at the Senior Week barbeque pictured here, is always one of the most enjoyable aspects of my role as University president.

We have many other great accomplishments to celebrate in this issue, which has a fresh new look we hope you’ll find even more inviting. Our special section on the School of Business Administration highlights the significant strategic progress of the SBA in teaching, research, and service. You’ll also read about the remarkable Cassaretto family and its multi-generational relationship with Loyola, meet three of our Jesuit scholastics and learn how they chose a religious vocation, and follow a group of Loyola students as they travel the U.S. to discern their professional and personal callings.

In the Gifts section and throughout the magazine, you’ll see the many ways the generosity of our alumni and friends is moving Loyola forward to ever greater success. Your support makes a meaningful difference to the students of today—and tomorrow. Thank you for your ongoing loyalty to Loyola as we fulfill our promise of preparing people to live extraordinary lives.

Michael J. Garanzini, S.J.
