Scholarships bring adults back to school

The Bernard Osher Foundation has awarded Loyola’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) a $50,000 grant to encourage adult students to return to their university studies to finish their bachelor’s degrees. SCPS is adding to the grant amount in order to make significant scholarship awards to 10 students annually.

Osher Re-entry Scholars may enroll in five courses at no cost during one academic year. Under the terms of the grant, a “re-entry student” is one whose undergraduate studies have been interrupted for some time.

“The Osher program supports students who may have left their colleges or universities to take a job, attend to family needs, or raise children, but there are no stipulations attached to why the interruption occurred,” says Jeffrey Rosen, PhD, SCPS dean. “The only condition that matters is that Osher Re-entry Scholars are ready to begin their undergraduate studies again, and possess the drive and personal investment to complete their degrees.”
