The year 2009 will mark the 100th anniversary of Loyola's designation as a university and the
beginning of our second century as Chicago's Jesuit University. In anticipation, the university recently
completed a comprehensive strategic plan for 2004 - 2009 and also defined what is termed the
Loyola Promise: Preparing people to lead extraordinary lives. The Promise is not only Loyola's
pledge to its students, parents, alumni, donors and others, but also the university's organizing principle that focuses and directs all of our actions as faculty, staff and administrators.
