The Loyola University Museum of Art (LUMA) was founded in 2005 on the Water Tower Campus of Loyola University Chicago. LUMA is located on the Magnificent Mile at the Water Tower in Lewis Towers, an historic 1927 Gothic Revival building. The museum with 35,000 sq. feet contains eight exhibition main galleries, the William G. and Marilyn M. Simpson Lecture Hall, the Solomon Cordwell Buenz Library of Sacred Art and Architecture and the Museum Store, the Push Pin Gallery and the Harlan J. Berk Ltd. Works on Paper Gallery. LUMA welcomes new members and volunteers at all levels of participation. The mission of the museum is illustrated and introduced in the first floor lobby with the Windows of Faith representing the five major world faiths of Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam. The museum operates as part of the educational mission of the University and is a 501(c)3 cultural institution receiving public and private support and with an elected board of advisors.

Mission
The Loyola University Museum of Art is dedicated to the exploration, promotion and understanding of art and artistic expression and attempts to illuminate the enduring spiritual questions and concerns of all cultures and societies. The Museum interprets and displays the university's medieval, renaissance and baroque collection, known as the Martin D'Arcy, Collection, other museum permanent collections and rotating exhibitions. As a museum with an interest in education and educational programming, the Loyola University Museum of Art reflects the university's Jesuit mission and is dedicated to helping men and women of all creeds explore the roots of their own faith and spiritual quest.
Facility RentalsLUMA’s ideal location and unique design provides opportunities for parties, receptions, seminars and conferences for groups from 10 to 125 people. Catering is easily provided by Aramark with menus that range from simple lunches to elegant dinner fare in our Simpson Lecture Hall or the Gothic Beane Ballroom overlooking Water Tower Park. Tours of exhibitions in conjunction with facility rental may be arranged through our Education Department. Parking is available in the area and visitors dropped off directly at the front entrance.
