Song in Stone: The Construction of Madonna della Strada Chapel

July 19–October 19, 2014

This exhibition tells the story of Loyola’s iconic building on Sheridan Road. Dedicated to the patron saint of travelers, known in English as Our Lady of the Wayside, the Art Deco building was designed by New York architect Andrew Rebori. Opened in 1945, the chapel contains a monumental fresco of the Coronation of the Virgin with Jesuit Saints by Chicago artist, Melville Steinfels.
