Art and Faith of the Crèche: The Collection of James and Emilia Govan

December 5, 2009 – January 17, 2010

Crèche-makers from around the world interpret the nativity scene through the eyes of their own cultures. The story of Mary, Joseph, and the Christ Child has had great appeal throughout the world as a story of a family facing both hardship and hope. This exhibition gave viewers an opportunity to see how artists across the globe depict the Nativity through a cultural lens that incorporates native clothing, art, and architecture.
