Mary Torgerson

A LUMA docent since 2005, Mary Torgerson has subverted the meaning of retirement while playing tennis, golf and bridge, singing and plucking the strings of her ukulele. How far she has come from her hometown of Dubuque! Mary moved to the area to attend Dominican University and later earned a master’s degree in social work at Loyola. She worked for Catholic Charities in their adoption department. Mary has been married to her husband Glenn (whom she met on a New Year’s Eve blind date) for forty-eight (!) years. They have three children and four grandchildren.
