Recent accomplishments of our undergraduate students
• Kristen Dickey, an undergraduate Statistics student, was chosen to participate in a one week workshop on statistical modeling and analysis at NC State, all expenses paid. In Kristen's own words:
I was able to go and participate in this workshop! It actually went very well. There was a total of 19 of us from all around the country(Washington, Texas, New Hampshire, California...). I really enjoyed it because we not only spent time listening to various lectures from grads, post docs, and professors, but we were also able to put what they had taught us (and things we already knew) to use when we did more of a hands-on project toward the end of the week. Also, on one of the days they had two panelists planned: one with graduate students talking all about grad school and the process of getting in and the other with people from industry and acedemia talking about their jobs. Overall I found it to be a great experience!
• Two undergraduates in mathematics, Theresa Kamykowski and Margaret VanDuyne, were selected to participate in a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) in Secondary Mathematics Education (Combinatorics, Design Theory, and Graph Theory) this summer at Illinois State University.
