About

Dr. Jensen holds a B.S. from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. from Northwestern University. He has received consistent financial support from the National Science Foundation for his research since 1976, and in 1980 he was awarded one of the prestigious Sloan Fellowships for research in mathematics. Prior to coming to Loyola in 1985, Dr. Jensen was a faculty member at the University of Kentucky during which time he received a visiting research appointment to the Mathematics Research Center of the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Prior to this, he was a Hedrick Assistant Professor at the University of California at Los Angeles. His primary research interest is in nonlinear partial differential equations with applications to physics, engineering, and finance. His work has drawn international attention, and he has given invited lectures in Canada, France, Italy, England, Germany, Japan, Greece, and Australia. Dr. Jensen has been a regular visitor to the University of California at Berkeley, has twice been a visiting member of the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute in Berkeley, and has lectured at the University of Maryland, the Institute for Advanced Studies at Princeton, Brown University, Rice University, the University of California at Los Angeles, the University of California at Berkeley, the University of Minnesota, Northwestern University, the Georgia Institute of Technology, Purdue University, Indiana University, Texas A & M University, and the University of Utah. Dr. Jensen was one of just 9 speakers invited to give a 45 minute lecture in Partial Differential Equations at the 1998 International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM98) in Berlin. Dr. Jensen served as the department chair from 2007 to 2012.
