The libraries at Loyola provide students with materials for study and research as well as ample space for quiet study. Loyola has libraries at all its campuses. Each library houses a wide variety of resource materials which match the campus’ educational programs. Although undergraduate students use Cudahy, Mallinckrodt, Science and Water Tower Campus libraries almost exclusively, students may use the library materials from the Law and the Health Science libraries either by visiting the libraries or by having books delivered to the other libraries.

Pegasus (Online Library Catalog)

The University’s Web-based online catalog, Pegasus, provides flexible access to our book and periodical titles, and to other materials held by the libraries. The catalog also includes links to other electronic resources such as online journals and databases. Pegasus is available from dorm rooms, computer labs and remotely from home computers.

Electronic Resources

The Libraries’ Web sit http://libraries.luc.edu offers access to hundreds of databases, thousands of electronic journals, and many other online resources for research. The Libraries provide the Loyola community with the widest possible access to the most appropriate research materials available electronically. Librarians are available at every reference desk to advise on research strategies, and to provide quick training on electronic resources. The Libraries and Information Services collaborate in offering short courses covering the Internet every semester.

At Cudahy, Science, Lewis, and Mallinckrodt Libraries, books are loaned for four weeks during the academic year and for two weeks during the summer session. At the Health Sciences Library, the loan period is two weeks. Books may not be renewed by phone. Fines are 25 cents per day per book for overdue books. The charge for a lost book is the current price plus a $15.00 processing fee.
