The July 2015 conference in Melbourne, Australia focused on “Expanding the Jesuit Higher Education Network: Collaborations for Social Justice.” Close to 200 leaders of Jesuit higher education institutions around the world spent three days discussing current collaborative projects and seeking future opportunities. The challenges and opportunities were well articulated in a video on “Social Justice and the Jesuit University” that complements a document on the same subject entitled “The Promotion of Justice in the Universities of the Society.” The video, document, program, extended interview with Superior General Adolfo Nicolás, can be found on this site.

On March 18, 2015, we sat down with Adolfo Nicolás, Superior General, Society of Jesus for a conversation around the theme of social justice. The Father General reflected on a range of topics from his perception of young people today, the deep need to learn from other cultures and ways of life, his own experiences, the ever-present need to focus on promoting justice, and why he is optimistic about the future.
