Protestant Ministry

About Us

Protestant Ministry at Loyola is an inter-denominational ministry for students who are seeking to follow Jesus. Protestant Ministry programs are aimed to invite and unite all students to engage the Christian faith story. Rooted in the Protestant heritage, students gather for worship, fellowship, study, teaching and service. The Protestant community on campus is based around two ministries: Agape and Ecclesia. Agape is Greek for love, and Eccleisa is Greek for church.

More information, a blog, weekly updates and a calender of events can be found here.

Service and Justice

Students who feel called to be the hands and feet of Jesus on campus, in Rogers Park and the Chicago community can serve with Protestant Ministry. Each semester, students reach out to peers on campus and work with local agencies to serve the homeless and immigrant families in Rogers Park. Students can participate in a local Chicago Winter Immersion trip, help with a winter food drive, or pack sandwiches with the Night Ministries.

Weekly Worship Opportunities

Weekly Worship is at the heart of Protestant Ministry on campus. Agape ministry meets weekly on Wednesdays for worship and bible study. On Sundays, Ecclesia is meets on for a larger worship service with a message, communion and prayer.

Retreat and Fellowship

Students can find time and space each month to get away be present in community with one another. Students are invited to find opportunities to create meaningful relationships on and off campus. Each year, students are invited to spend a weekend away from campus on the C.C.C. retreat focused on developing Chirstian faith. Protestant Ministry programs also include concerts, road trips, speakers, cook-offs and progressive meals for any student interested.

Spiritual Formation

Growing together in God means praying and reading scripture together. Small groups meet every week to develop relationships around the love for God and one another.
