Protestant Ministry

Service and Justice

Protestant Ministry progams include several opportunities for students to engage the greater Loyola and Chicago community during the academic year. Currently, the program supports a Winter Immersion, food drive and Night Ministry work. Contact Mike Moore with any questions.

Chicago Winter Immersion

The last weekend of the semester students can travel to the west side and work with Circle Urban ministries. Circle Urban ministries is a Christian organization working to address the needs of the Austin neighborhood. Students stay in the Austin community and visit local churches as well as work on service projects. The Winter Immersion is a great opportunity to see a different part of Chicago and discover the diversity in the body of Christ. Space is limited to 10 students.

The Night Ministry

Once a semester students pack sandwiches for the Night Ministry in Chicago. The Night Ministry works on the streets of Chicago with men and women who are homeless, fighting addiction, being trafficked, and in need of basic resources. This is a great chance to partner with a local ministry reaching to those who are often ignored and in need of God's love.

Food Drive

The Kovler Center, located in Rogers Park, reaches out to survivors of torture who have relocated to Chicago. In the winter months, the food pantry at the Kolver Center runs low. Students buy and organize non-perishable items for the center. Last year students stocked the pantry at the Kovler Center full. Students work with the Muslim Student Association, Hillel, and the Hindu Association for this food drive. Students also plan a meal with the clients at the Kovler Center to personally engage with them.
