Sr. Jean Dolores Schmidt

"My name is Sr. Jean Dolores Schmidt, BVM, but to Loyola students I am just Sr. Jean, a Rambler Basketball fan, a Rowdies fan and friend to many.

I am a member of the Water Tower Campus Ministry Team and you will find me in the Ministry Office, 25 E. Pearson, Room 107. Just stop in or call any time -- extension 56756. Or, you may just see me roaming around near the bus line or almost any place on campus. Yes, I wear my Loyola ID; you will know me when you see me.

I look forward to meeting you and talking with you whenever you wish to chat, to express your opinions, to exchange ideas, to share problems, to discuss your involvement in the service of faith and the promotion of justice, or to just be yourself."

Groups and Programs

Graduate and Adult Student Christian Group

This interdenominational group meets monthly at the Water Tower Campus for fellowship and prayer and also joins at other times for special events.  Contact Michael Maher at 312-915-7727 or mmaher@luc.edu for more information.

Staying Best Friends

Staying Best Friends is for students in Loyola University’s School of Law and their spouses and partners.  Usually two sessions in the fall semester and one in the spring are offered.  At least two sessions involve second and third year law students or recent alums who share reflections upon their experience.  Guest couples speak about what pressure-points they imagined Law School would cause and the actual realities.  They will offer strategies they have tried to alleviate stresses—those that have proved successful and those that have not.  Following the reflections of the three couples, we will enjoy some food and drink.  The School covers the cost of this program.  Meetings for 2008-2009 will be Fridays on August 22nd, October 17th, and February 13th in the 13th floor Faculty Law Library.  For more information, contact Fr. Jerry Overbeck, SJ at 312-915-7186 or joverb2@luc.edu.

Prayer Luncheons

Prayer luncheons are a time for the Water Tower community to gather, to share a meal and to reflect on the role of faith in day-to-day life.  They are open to people of all faiths.  Faculty, staff, and students are all invited.  Consult the calendar on this page for more information.

Graduate and Adult Student Single-Day Retreats

Working with the busy schedules of graduate and adult students, these afternoon retreats are offered once each semester.  Consult the calendar on this page for more information.  If you would like to be part of the planning committee for these, contact Michael Maher at 312-915-7727 or mmaher@luc.edu for more information.

Faith-Based Groups in the Law School and School of Social Work

These groups meet once a month (September, October, November, February, March, and April) for those students who wish to gather and reflect upon their experience of Law or Social Work explicitly in light of their faith (of any faith tradition).  Contact Fr. Jerry Overbeck, S.J. at 312-915-7186 or joverb2@luc.edu if you want more information on dates, times and locations.

All Saints Chapel

All Saints Chapel is located on the Third Floor of the Terry Student Center (26 East Pearson).  Mass is celebrated in the chapel Monday through Friday at 12:10 pm and on Sunday evenings at 7:00pm during the undergraduate fall and spring semesters. A simple meal is shared after the Sunday Mass for those who wish to attend.  The chapel is generally open for private prayer and devotion to the Blessed Sacrament during the hours that the Office of Student Affairs is open in the Terry Center.
