On Welcoming the Sick and the Dying

The Lourdes Lecture considers the theme of the Christian ministry of healing. Informed by Christ's words in Matthew 25, "When I was sick, you cared for me," and inspired by the counter-cultural elevation of those who are sick to a place of prominence at the Shrine of Lourdes, the annual Lourdes Lecture considers questions at the intersection of the experience of illness, suffering, embodiment, finitude and healing within the Christian tradition.
