Milwaukee 2013

The 55th Annual Convention will be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center from November 7-10, 2013.

The 2013 informal convention theme is "Art & Artifice."

Possible sub-themes include:
  • authenticity and irony
  • documentary/mockumentary
  • fakery
  • performance
  • passing (class, race, gender)
  • rhetorics of advertising, marketing, PR, politics
  • masks, masking, masquerade
  • autobiography and memoir
  • aesthetics in criticism/theory

2013 Keynote Speaker

This year the President's Keynote speaker will be Tom Adelman, AKA Camden Joy, author of fiction, music criticism, posters, pamphlets, manifestos, and songs. “How Much Is True? I Wonder” will be his talk’s title.

Registration Fees

The registration fees for the 55th Annual Convention in Milwaukee, WI are as follows:

  • Regular Registration (for all full-time faculty, administrators, schoolteachers, and librarians):
    $95.00 - Before October 18th midnight

  • Special Registration (for students, independent scholars, part-time, unemployed or retired members only): $45.00 - Before October 18th midnight

 

Registration Fees are Non-Refundable.

Registering for the Convention

All attendees must be members of the association to attend the convention. The deadline for convention presenters to pre-register is Monday, June 17, 2013. Registration can be easily complete via mail or online using a third party vendor, 123Signup.

IMPORTANT: Because of printing deadlines, convention presenters must register by Monday, June 17, 2013 in order to be included in the printed program.

    Registration fees and membership dues are separate items that must be purchased. This link allows you to pay them both at the same time, but they are separate line items that must be selected.

    NOTE: A convenience fee is charged when using the third-party vendor, 123Signup, for online registration.

    IMPORTANT: Pre-registration for convention presenters and non-presenters will end on Friday, October 18, 2013. After October 18th, late and on-site registration will be necessary.

    Group Registrations

    The MMLA does not provide group registrations for departments or schools. All convention registrations are individual.

On-site Registration

Late and on-site registration becomes effective after October 18th. Late and onsite registration via the U.S mail will not be accepted. The late and on-site registration fees and be paid online after October 18th and are as follows:

  • Regular Registration (for all full-time faculty, administrators, schoolteachers, and librarians):
    $160.00 - After October 18th and on-site

  • Special Registration (for students, independent scholars, part-time, unemployed or retired members only): $80.00 - After October 18th and on-site

NOTE: Special registration is for students, part-time, unemployed or retired members only.

IMPORTANT: Any registration forms received via the U.S. mail after October 18th will not be accepted and the funds will be returned.

Credit cards will not be accepted on-site. Late and on-site registration fees can only be paid using cash, check or via our third-party online vendor, 123SignUp.
