Barbara Haas, Ph.D.
Barbara Haas received her B.S. in Biology from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. She completed a Masters in Enzymology and Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the University of Paris conducting research on synthetic polynucleotides at the Atomic Energy Commission in Sarclay. Her postdoctoral appointments included Washington University Medical School in St. Louis where she studied DNA repair systems and Oak Ridge National Laboratories where she investigated the effects of chemical carcinogens on rRNA and cell cycle in mammals. During her time at Loyola University Chicago she has conducted research on bacterial siderophores and their presence in the lungs of cystic fibrosis patients. She has been teaching in the Department of Natural Science and the Biology Department at Loyola since 1991.
