Admission

We invite you to apply to the Accelerated Bachelors of Science in Nursing program and join a community of students that have made the decision to enter the wonderful world of nursing.

The next opportunity to apply for entry is spring 2010. Fall admission will begin fall 2010.

   Admission Requirements

GPA/Degree

  • A baccalaureate degree.
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in all college coursework completed. Students must achieve at least a 3.0/4.0 to qualify for admission.  Prerequisite coursework will be factored into the cumulative average.
  • Minimum grade of ‘B’ in all science courses.
  • Completion of most prerequisite credits before submitting an application.

   Prerequisite requirements

Anatomy and Physiology 8 credits
General Chemistry 4 credits
Organic Chemistry 4 credits
Microbiology 3 credits
Introduction to Psychology 3 credits
Developmental Psychology 3 credits
English (3 credits may be Literature) 6 credits
History 3 credits
Statistics 3 credits

Completing Prerequisite Courses:

  • All prerequisite courses must be completed at the time of entry.
  • Science prerequisite courses must be completed within 5 years of entering the School of Nursing with the exception of General Chemistry.
  • All science courses must include a laboratory component with the exception of Microbiology.
  • All prerequisites must show a grade of “C-“or above.  Grades of D do not transfer.

   Application Materials

To apply for admission to the ABSN program in the School of Nursing, the following documents are required:

    1. Your reason for enrolling in the ABSN program.
    2.  Your professional goals.

For international applicants, the following documents are required in addition to those listed above:

  • TOEFL scores are needed if you have not completed at least 4 semesters of courses in the United States and/or ENG 101 and ENG 102.
  • Evaluations of international transcripts by an outside credentialing service. Go to www.ece.org for information about this service and to download an application.
