External Admission
The Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing is at capacity and will not be accepting external transfer students for the Spring 2010 or Fall 2010 semesters.
We invite you to apply to the Bachelors of Science in nursing program and join a community of students that have made the decision to enter the wonderful world of nursing. Students who attend other colleges and universities may transfer to the Niehoff School of Nursing as an external transfer student.
Deadline for Fall
June 1st Deadline for Spring November 1st
Applications are accepted twice yearly for external transfers; once in the fall and once in the spring. Applications for the fall semester 2009 are due by June 1, 2009.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2/4.0 scale
- Minimum grade of "B" in all science courses
- Completion of the following 58 required prerequisite credits before submitting an application.
College Writing Seminar 3 credits Literary Knowledge* 6 credits Artistic Knowledge* 3 credits Historical Knowledge* 6 credits Philosophical Knowledge* 3 credits Psychology 101 3 credits Statistics (suggested: Psychology Statistics) 3 credits Biology 101 (Intro to Biology) 3 credits General Chemistry with lab 4 credits Organic Chemistry with lab 4 credits Developmental Psychology 3 credits Theological and Religious Knowledge* 6 credits Microbiology 3 credits Anatomy and Physiology I & II (with labs) 8 credits * Core requirement

All prerequisite courses must be completed at the time of application.

Science prerequisite courses must be completed within 5 years of entering the School of Nursing with the exception of General Chemistry.

All science courses must include a laboratory component with the exception of Microbiology.

All prerequisites must show a grade of “C-“or above. Grades of D do not transfer.

Advisement
Advisement is available in the form of transcript evaluations for external transfer students with questions regarding prerequisite requirements. Please fax unofficial transcripts to Sasha Daley at (773)508-3241. All faxed transcripts must include an e-mail address. All evaluations are generally returned via e-mail within 2 to 3 business days (if time permits).

Step 4: Schedule and complete outstanding prerequisite courses. Please refer to the University’s Transfer Guides when scheduling courses at area community colleges.
Step 5: Submit application materials to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions by the deadline
Step 6: Confirm receipt of application materials with the Undergraduate Admissions Office
Step 7: Await admission decision and additional information
