Exercise Science Minor

(Note: Exercise Science Minor goes into effect Fall 2015)

Non-Exercise Science majors who wish to expand their skills in exercise science may pursue a minor in this field. The exercise science minor requires 17 total credit hours in the following courses:

Required EXCM Courses (10 Credit Hours):
EXCM 101* Introduction to Exercise Physiology
EXCM 201 Physiology of Exercise (Pre-requisites: EXCM 101)
EXCM 301 Advanced Physiology of Exercise (Pre-requisites: EXCM 101, EXCM 201 and BIOL 243 or BIOL 153)

Required EXCM Choices (7 Credit Hours): Choose one from Group A and one from Group B.

Group A Choices (3 credit hours – Choose ONE):

EXCM 390 Psychology of Health and Exercise (Pre-requisites: EXCM 101 and EXCM 201)
EXCM 342 Physical Growth, Development, & Nutrition (Pre-requisites: EXCM 101 and EXCM 201)

Group B Choices (4 credit hours – Choose ONE):

EXCM 364 Intro to Clinical Exercise Testing and Prescription with lab (Pre-requisites: EXCM 101, EXCM 201 and BIOL 243 or BIOL 153)
EXCM 352 Musculoskeletal Assessment and Strength Training with lab (Pre-requisites: EXCM 101, EXCM 201 and BIOL 243 or BIOL 153)

*These classes fulfill the university experiential learning requirement
