1993-Ph.D. Nursing Texas Woman's University,
My teaching, research, and service have focused on improving health outcomes for women living with chronic health conditions. Research studies have examined the development of inner strength in women facing critical life events such as cancer and spinal bifida. Based on multiple studies, a middle-range theory of Inner Strength in Women has been constructed. Psychometric testing of the instrument, Inner Strength Questionnaire, demonstrated a reliability of 0.91 with an explained variance of 63%. I feel my comprehensive clinical and scholarship background in Maternal-Child and Womens Health Nursing has enabled me to implement creative strategies to foster inner strength and empowerment for the advancement of health outcomes in women.
