Overview
This Master of Science in Nursing program prepares professional nurses for practice in an advanced-practice role in order to meet the primary health-care needs of women. Graduates will be effective in assisting women to promote, maintain and regain an optimal level of health. Although reproductive needs are viewed as significant components of women’s health, the program also stresses other women’s health-care needs across the lifespan. Graduates are prepared for independent and collaborative decision making in health promotion and maintenance, disease prevention, physical and psychosocial assessment, and the management of health and illness in women. Emphasis is given to care of women in vulnerable populations and to consideration of women’s health-care needs within the context of current and future social and cultural needs.
