What are School-Based Health Centers?
School-based health centers are designed to provide easy access to affordable health care services for students. These include primary health care, mental health and health education services in a safe and confidential environment. The health center can help students feel their best so that they can achieve in school. The health center staff works with families, local health care agencies, school administration and teachers to meet the physical and mental health needs of students.
We are all about good health!
SBHCs in Illinois are supported by federal, state, school district and private foundation funding, including grants from the Illinois Department of Human Services. Reimbursement from Medicaid, private insurance and small fees also help support services. Enrolled students are eligible for services regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.
