Master of Arts: The M.A. in Pastoral Studies, offered by Loyola's Institute of Pastoral Studies (IPS), is designed to provide a solid first-degree experience in education for ministry. Students may complete all or part of the 36-hour degree program through online courses. The structured online curriculum includes courses in scripture, pastoral theology, and ministerial skills, with possible concentrations in Healthcare Ministries, Religious Education, and Youth Ministry. Students are also required to complete an education practicum in their home state.
The U.S. Department of Education requires any institution offering distance education/online programs to students outside of its home state to acquire authorization from the states in which students reside. Regulations vary from state to state. While Loyola University Chicago is authorized, exempt or pursuing authorization in most states, some restrictions apply.
