Great Mexican Food
-By Frank Warpeha
Lincoln Park is a very popular
spot for entertainment and dining out.
Hidden amongst all of the bars
and shops on North Lincoln Ave is Allende, a small Mexican restaurant
where regulars go to indulge. Customers are never let down by
the great food and the energetic, and friendly staff. If you’re
in the mood for great Mexican food, Allende is the place to be
for good service with a smile.
“I’ve been to many good Mexican
restaurants in Chicago, but Allende’s my favorite. I go there
as much as I can and I’ve never been disappointed with the quality
of the food,” says Mike Vercillo, 21, a Biology major at Loyola
University Chicago.
Allende is a very popular spot,
especially at night, but not to worry, the service is outstanding
and people generally do not have to wait very long for their food.

Mike Webb, 22, is a car salesman
in the Northwest suburbs, and every time that he is down in Lincoln
Park, he likes to stop in for a quick bite to eat.
“I never wait long for food here,
and the burritos are excellent, so whenever I’m down here, I like
to come in and eat,” Webb said.
Not only is the service good, but
the prices are reasonable. A giant burrito, which seems to be
a customer favorite, costs $3.80.
In fact, a dinner plate of Enchiladas
with your choice of chicken, ground beef or cheese, with a side
of rice, beans, and a salad comes out to only $7.50. In addition,
if you sit down and eat, you get chips and salsa at no extra charge.

Brad Johnston, 18, a history major
at Depaul University goes to Allende all the time because of the
quality of the food and the variety.
“I like to try different variations
when I come here, but sometimes I go straight for the steak burrito,”
says Johnston.
If you’re in the mood for dessert,
Allende offers milk shakes for $1.50 in four different flavors:
banana, coconut, chocolate, and strawberry.
Allende is located at 2408 N. Lincoln
Ave. and is open from 9A.M. to 3A.M. on Sunday through Thursday;
and 9A.M. to 5A.M. on Friday and Saturday. If you’re in Lincoln
Park, it’s definitely worth a visit!
