Chase Cafe and Quest Networks

-By Solomon Chelli

Imagine a place where you can get a good cup of coffee, check your email, listen to local bands and even take a few tango lessons if you desire. Sounds too good to be true? Well this was Phillip Tadros and Christopher's Luck's vision and it all became a reality when The Chase Café was opened in January 2002.

Prior to The Chase Café's opening, Tadros was busy working in another café and Luck was running Quest Network, an Internet company out of the attic of his parents' house. In 1998, the company relocated to the North Side of Chicago. Around the same time, Luck happened to meet Tadros at his café and the two started talking. They realized they both shared a dream of creating a cyber café and the rest is history.

The cafe does not follow the traditional café layout; rather it is set up very uniquely to accommodate all of the events that take place here. There are three different rooms. The first room houses artwork and other various artistic expressions, the second which is the main room, is the actual restaurant where visitors can also play a game of pool if they feel like it. The third room is reserved for dance lessons and bands. In addition, a patio has been added for the summertime.

It is obvious from the diverse list of activities offered at The Chase Café, that there is something for everyone, no matter what your interests happen to be.

"We have new bands playing here Wednesday through Saturday nights and Tuesday is Karaoke night," says Jennifer Wyatt, a waitress of the café. In addition, if you are a painter you could sign up to have your paintings posted on the walls of the restaurant. Tango lessons are available for those who have an interest in learning how to dance.

"You can check your email, print out materials, fax messages, and take computer lessons…we even sell and fix computers," says Luck,

Nonetheless, this is a café so the great espresso drinks, pastries, smoothies, as well as a full menu, can not be forgotten.

Due to the fact that the café is relatively new, the owners have great plans for the future.

"We plan on redoing the kitchen, updating the interior of the restaurant, and buying some hammocks for the patio, so people can just lounge around and have agreat time" says Luck.

Luck is also hopeful for his network business to pick up. He plans on buying new computers to set up in his office, and plans to set up more I-Mac computers.

The owners realize they have come a long way since their initial conversation in the café and are thankful to everyone who helped them out along the way.

"I am grateful to all of the people that have been in and out of my life and that have been with me every step of the way," says Trados.

He attributes the success of The Chase Café to the regular customers who he has formed close relationships with since the café's opening.

The Chase Cafe is located at 7301 North Sheridan Road, on the corner of Sheridan and Chase Street. For more information go to www.questinternet.net.
