GLBTQ Awareness Week (Fall 2004)
Purpose
GLBTQA Awareness Week is centered around the National Coming Out Day on October 11th every year. It has been established to bring the GLBTQA community into the mainstream Loyola community and let people see what the culture is really like.
The goals of the week are to:
- Provide the Loyola community with an understanding of the discrimination underrepresented by the GLBTQ community.
- Educate the Loyola community on GLBTQ issues.
- Provide a safe and supporting environment for people of all groups to discuss and interact with each other.

Prayer Service and Reception to Heal Homophobia
Join University Ministry and the LUC community in prayer for an end to homophobia. GLBTQ Loyolans and straight allies are invited to pray for healing and reconciliation.

GLBTQ Gives Back: Community Service Project
Students will have the opportunity to participate in a community service project at a variety of volunteer sites that serve the GLBTQ community. Potential sites include: The Center on Halsted and Affinity Community Services. To sign up visit the information table in the CFSU Lobby October 25-27.

Tying the Knot: Movie & Discussion
Watch the ground-breaking documentary and stay for a discussion of the issues raised by the movie. Tying the Knot documents the political war between gay people who want to marry and those determined to stop them. From a historical trip to the Middle Ages, to gay hippies storming the Manhattan marriage bureau in 1971, this eye-opening exploration of the embattled institution looks at rights, privilege and love as gay activists and right-wing politicos lock horns in the fight for marriage.

Queer Eye for the Loyola Guy: Release Party!

Dr. Yvonne Welbon, - "Living with Pride"
In her film “Living with Pride,” Dr. Yvonne Wellbon chronicles the life of a Black lesbian with whom she had several in depth interviews. The event is a celebration of multiple diversities through a film screening and discussion. Dr. Welbon's film won awards at the Frameline and Outfest gay and lesbian film festivals.
