Safe Space Trainings

Safe Space trainings start at 2 hours and can go up to 4 hours. It depends on how extensive of a training the group wants. There are several general training sessions offered each semester, with the option of other trainings being scheduled by groups, departments, etc.

Our Mission
Safe Space is an organization dedicated to the education of the Loyola University campus community, neighboring campuses and the greater Chicago area in gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, questioning and ally (GLBTQA) concerns. We dedicate ourselves to forming a network of allies who will be knowledgeable in these issues and show support for the GLBTQ community.

Training Goals:

  • Provide awareness of prejudice against sexual minorities;
  • Provide a greater sense of safety for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender student community;
  • Offer information to straight allies in positions where they may be in contact with lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people;
  • Provide information on sexual orientation;
  • Explain the stresses on GLBTQ youth and its impairment on educational performance; and
  • Equip participants with tools to reduce prejudice and create inclusive environments
