Tearing Down the Wall
A wall will be constructed in the student union that has two parts. The internal wall will be made up of images and words promoting unity and education. There will be mock bricks on top that people will have the opportunity to remove (with a donation). These bricks will have graffiti on them with words and symbols that are discriminatory (racist, sexist, homophobic, etc). The wall will be up all week and will be discussed at Friday’s “Bridge of Hope.” The point is to see how much of the wall was taken down and what it means.

Deconstruction Zone
The "Deconstruction Zone" is a student production created and performed by LUC students and staff.  It is a diversity awareness project designed to fight ignorance and oppression through education.  The participants physically move through a series of sensory experiences/scenes pertaining to different kinds of oppression.  After traveling through the "Zone" in silence, a guided group discussion is held to consider the impact of the "tour of oppression" and how it relates to our community.

AIDS Quilt

The AIDS Memorial Quilt remembers the victims of the epidemic. They are gone, but they will not be forgotten. Each block of quilt memorializes the life of a person lost to AIDS. As the epidemic continues claiming lives around the world and in the United States, the Quilt continues to grow and to reach more communities with its messages of remembrance, awareness and hope. Please come join the Loyola community in remembering those who have been lost.

“Tearing Down the Wall”

A brick wall displaying words of hate discrimination will be on display during the entire week. Students will have the opportunity to donate to a charity and take down a piece of the wall revealing a word or picture of unity and anti hate.   The wall will be constructed and will look like a graffiti filled brick wall that has various slurs and discriminatory statements. Donations allow bricks taken down.

Tuesday, April 25th. 7pm

Documentary Film- “Invisible Children”

"Invisible Children” is the story of Ugandan children who live in fear of abduction.  Joseph Kony, a self-styled Christian prophet, conscripts children under the age of twelve to fight in his rebel army.

If they do not fight, he orders the other children to kill the would-be deserters in unimaginably brutal ways.  This is a story of discovery, inviting us to see the unseen children who live lives of unspeakable

horror.

Tuesday, April 25th, 10am-2pm

Holocaust Remembrance Day- “Hebrew 'Yom HaShoa."

Hillel will have a information display of remembrance that will include material, videos and literature about the Holocaust.  This is particularly relevant for the week at a time when someone is saying the Holocaust never happened, and when an area synagogue had its windows broken and walls defaced with swastikas.
