Parents and Guests
Welcome to the Loyola community
Orientation is a family-oriented event, and we hope that you will join us for a variety of activities for parents and incoming students. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to easing your family's transition to Loyola and we're here to help during every step of the process. This is why we have created an optional family and guest program to run concurrently to your student’s Orientation experience. Students register their guests when they register for their Orientation program.
We look forward to acclimating you to Loyola’s community of academic excellence and our campus culture of values-based opportunities for your student’s learning and development. Most of all, we hope that you are enjoying this exciting time in your student's life.
If your student has questions about what needs to be done prior to his or her Orientation, please refer your student to our Before Orientation page. To learn more about your student's specific Orientation program, select the option for either Freshmen or Transfer Students.
You can also contact us at email@example.com or 773.508.7410.
Parents, please note the schedule deviates from your student's schedule beginning at lunch time. At Freshman Orientation, parents and students will connect again on Day 2 at the Rambler Rally. At Transfer Orientation, parents and students will connect again at the end of the day, around 5:30pm. Please keep in mind that students are required to complete their entire Orientation program and may not leave early.
Sample schedules are available for the parent/guest programs for our summer programs. These schedules will give you a rough guide to the program. You and your student will receive personalized New Student Orientation schedules when you arrive at the Check-In, but this should help you plan ahead for your Orientation experience. Students are expected to stay on campus for the entire two-day Freshman Orientation program, as our programming goes late into the evening. We appreciate your help in encouraging your student to spend the entire session on campus. For sample student schedules, please refer to our Freshman or Transfer pages.
Parent Overnight Information
On-campus lodging for parents is available for a minimal cost for Freshman Orientations in June or July. On-campus lodging for parents is unavailable during the August 19-20 Orientation due to University Residence Hall Move-In. If you plan to stay the night on campus, you must make a reservation before you arrive on campus.
Parents can also elect to find their own lodging at a hotel. Below is a list of university approved hotels and accommodations.
Freshmen students' will spend the night on campus with the other students. This is a great opportunity to see what it is like to live in a college Residence Hall and to meet other freshman students. The overnight lodging is included in the Orientation fee, and students will receive the key to their room at Check-In.
On-campus overnight lodging reservations can be made through our Summer Housing site: lodging.luc.edu. When reserving the on-campus accommodations, please refer to the following guide for which promo code to enter when completing the registration once promo codes become available in April. If you have any questions regarding on-campus lodging for parents, please call Conference Services at 773.508.8090.
