F&A/Fringe Rates
The university has signed a new facilities and administrative cost rate agreement on March 7, 2007 with the Department of Health and Human Services, representing the federal government. The new rates are effective for the period July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2008, and provisionally thereafter until further notice.
The rates are:
48.5% MTDC On Campus Research at Maywood
40.5% MTDC On Campus Research at Lakeside Campuses
26.0% MTDC Off Campus All Programs
MTDC is modified total direct costs, which includes all direct costs except,
equipment, capital expenditures, tuition remission, patient care costs, graduate student fringe benefits and the first $25,000 of each subcontract.
Fringe Benefit Rates are for the period July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009, and provisionally thereafter until further notice.
30.1% of S&W for full-time staff
23.3% of S&W for full-time faculty and post docs
8.1% of S&W for part-time faculty and staff
42% of S&W for graduate students
There are no fringe benefit costs for undergraduate students.
The above rates should be used on all proposals, effective immediately. The Associate Provost for Research and Centers must approve the use of any F&A rate that is lower than the negotiated rates. If you have questions, please contact the Office of Research Services at 773 508-2471.
