Diversity Fueling Excellence in Research and Innovation November 13 - 15, 2013, Washington DC
Elsevier is sponsoring the Gender Summit 3 - North America (GS3-NA), now it its third year and expanding to North America. The GS3-NA will take place in Washington, DC on November 13-15, 2013, with the National Science Foundation as lead partner. There is one month left to register for the event.
Established in Europe in 2011, the Gender Summit has become the foremost forum for engaging top-level researchers, policy makers, science and innovation leaders, and other actors and stakeholders in the science and innovation arena, to address gender and diversity concerns where they impact on efficacy, quality, and success of science knowledge and research and innovation outcomes.
The theme for this year's Summit is "Diversity Fueling Excellence in Research and Innovation". The Summit will engage all relevant stakeholder groups in a Call to Action to achieve positive change towards greater diversity in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) knowledge endeavors, workforce, and leadership, through greater understanding of the role and impact of the differences between what is male and what is female, the "gender dimension", in research and innovation content and process.
Attend the Summit to find out about the latest research from leading international experts on a wide range of topics: from the role of sex differences in the mechanisms controlling cell behavior; to how productivity of research teams is influenced by gender balance. In addition to reporting on the new directions taken in research, the Summit will introduce a range of practical gender equality measures and best practices in advancing women's progress in STEM.
Along with attending the Plenaries, delegates will participate in a range of parallel sessions, and contribute to the shaping of the road-map for action by different stakeholder groups.
