Program Areas

Professor Ryan leads the Institute for Paralegal Studies. She supervises the faculty and staff and all aspects of the program's operations. Professor Ryan also manages the paralegal internship program.

Professional & Community Affiliations

Professor Ryan has been a paralegal educator for over 30 years and the Director of Loyola's Institute for Paralegal Studies for over 20 years. She worked as an attorney in a general practice firm in Chicago for three years before becoming a full-time program director in 1983.

As a veteran of the paralegal education field, Professor Ryan has been a speaker and writer for many groups, including the Illinois Paralegal Association, the International Paralegal Management Association, and the American Association for Paralegal Association.

A major area of interest throughout her career has been the American Bar Association's approval process for paralegal education programs. Professor Ryan has been involved for several years with the ABA’s Standing Committee on Paralegals, serving as a committee member and as an educational consultant. She has chaired numerous paralegal program site visits on behalf of the ABA.
