Towing Policy

1. The decision to tow a vehicle will not be taken lightly. In most cases the Campus Police will make every effort to contact the owner/operator in an attempt to get the vehicle moved prior to towing. There are, however, certain circumstances where towing will be justified without prior notice. These include:

  • Vehicles blocking a legally parked vehicle
  • Vehicles parked in emergency lanes
  • Vehicles blocking or obstructing traffic lanes, loading zones, postal areas, service drives, crosswalks, fire lanes, fire hydrants, handicapped spaces, and other designated traffic/parking areas.
  • Vehicles illegally parked in any parking lot
  • Vehicles illegally parked on Loyola property after 2:00 a.m.
  • Vehicles and/or Parkers with 4 or more parking citations (whether paid, unpaid, or under appeal) will be placed on the Loyola Tow List
  • Vehicles on Loyola's Tow List may be towed even if legally parked in Loyola's lots.
  • Vehicles will remain on the tow list until all citations are resolved, or after approval from the Parking Office.
2. Towing of vehicles will be at the owner's expense. Loyola University assumes no liability for vehicles towed.
